420 Laser Cladding
Reaches very high surface hardness through rapid cooling during cladding. Minimises wear where metal runs against metal.
Martensitic stainless steel (high carbon)
What this alloy is for
Reaches very high surface hardness through rapid cooling during cladding. Minimises wear where metal runs against metal.
Strength
Where it is strong
- Very high surface hardness (martensitic structure)
- Superior wear resistance in metal-to-metal contact
- Stainless structure adds corrosion protection
Application
Typical applications
- Plastic injection mould surfaces
- Hydraulic valve seats
- Industrial cutting blades
- Pump shafts
Limit
Limitations
- Higher carbon content means greater cracking sensitivity than 410L; parameter control and, where needed, preheating matter
Alloy selection is made per part. Even on the same component the right alloy changes when operating conditions change. The quotation states which alloy was selected and why. All alloys →
Which alloy suits your part?
Send the material, operating conditions and type of wear; we will recommend an alloy and explain the reasoning.
